My favorite drawings are the old later on in the bunch where his hand loosens up and he seems to find great joy drawing flowers and trees and clothes hanging on a clothesline
For some reason I think perhaps German but am really not sure
and then at the bow a nicely carved cleat to round things out

Primitively Carved, Jointed Man with Great Face victorian era courting My favorite drawings are theLove at first sight with this guy, who lost the toe on one foot along the way and looks perhaps to have once gripped something with one hand, but otherwise is very much better for his age and is very amenable to posing all sorts of ways, including standing up straight on his own. It's his face I love most, with these two very deep holes for the eyes, looking as if burrowed out with an old square nail, and the fainter suggestion of a large, wide nose
