and very much for the combination of the two in one object: a sort of Native American basket/tramp art box hybrid

with painted beard and mustache

I would most definitely stop and head that way

There's rarely a closed box of this sort I don't shake to see if there might be something (like kindergarten blocks!) inside, which was wise in this case or I might never have known there were four more boxes, of perfectly graduated scales, housed within it. (With subtly graduated patinas to the wood, too, the smallest looking as though it had never seen the light of day since its construction in 1892! Signed ASW,
