Clearly it was made for a purpose

and 3 3/8" tall

I'm finding it very difficult to resist scooping up old tools with wonderfully worn wooden handles

but also had an extensive collection of South American textiles

on the lower half of the reverse side are faint horizontal lines

I'd probably be inclined to keep this one very near at hand, perhaps sitting in an old wooden bowl on the counter filled sea salt, so that I could use it all of the time. Hand carved and quite old I think, it's got a great shape, nice large bowl, and terrific little stars inside of squares carved in the handle, with a row of dots on either side. I think one can really viscerally feel the love and care that went into making this; so
