Runkerry beach is situated between the Giant’s Causeway and the seaside village Portballintrae on the Causeway Coastal Route in Northern Ireland

while all bathed in a beautiful palette of Autumn colours

This is one of my more unusual and atmospheric paintings and although still my favourite subject

The original painting was initially created to mark the annual 'Red Sails' festival in Portstewart, in Northern Ireland, but makes a really striking piece in its own right. I wanted to create an atmospheric painting where the red sails of the boat contrast dramatically against the dark blue and purple tones of the sea and sky.
