Description

I can say that one can deeply feel the skill and care of the maker on this one

and making it feel all the more like a very much resolved painting to me

an ancient game for two players using checkers as well

though I have a sense of this painting as indictment of the establishment that he represents

Untethered Swinging Child, c. Late 17th/Early 18th Century Blue and White Delft Tile northwest coast native I can say that oneIt has been a while since I found an early Delft tile to love, but I really love this one, including for the fact that our swinging boy looks rather melancholic and no wonder, with his swing appearing untethered to anything, just a couple of tiny flags that don't look like they'll do much good softening his landing. And so it all feels like something of an existential portrait to me, which of course is my favorite kind. Late 17th early 18th century
