the banded toning seems rather the result of being folded against another column of threads

and perhaps the bird on reverse

Made from an old threaded iron rod as an end of day whimsy by an iron worker or machinist, or as a found object folk creation later on, I'm not entirely sure, but a great little sculpture either way, with some age to it for sure. 4 3 8" l x 2 1 8" d x 2 1 4" t and in good condition. I realized from photos I didn't dust it off especially well, but will do before sending!
