especially one that reflects its maker taking advantage of the particularities of that particular rock

made of pieces of what I believe is felted wool

which would clasp the pinback

And this small, old homemade knife too, with cross shaped handle, which I found alongside it, in Vermont. Just a little research makes me think the hammer earlier than later 19th century American, though as I say my knowledge is not deep! The knife maybe not quite as old, I'm not certain, but
