looking almost as if coated in tar and with the salvaged core peeking out here and there

I've watched a few of these "Fraction Learner" sets pop up online and always thought they were simply gorgeous

At the very bottom, in very faint pencil, looks to be the same of the plant depicted, but I can't quite make it out. I really like it for its awkwardness, with this tiny, tight yellow bloom just floating in space, and the pink flowers on their stem floating, too, over this large brown leaf I guess it is a leaf,
