which I think just adds to its aura

who shared that two generations of children in the family had played with them as children

I don't think that the maker of this jar was an amazing potter--the walls are thick and the form a little clunky--but the green glaze is really terrific

What I really like here is the play between that horizontal stretch of draping, almost like a landscape of dark cloth, and long, vertical drape of this child's white (christening?) gown, falling all the way to the ground. And then of course that baby's wide eyed face at the center of it all, looking simultaneously relaxed
