to ensure they are shepherded into the future one way or another

with stripes on the figure suggestive of a soccer (football) player

Largest measures 2" tall

but I would rather hate to see it trapped behind glass and would myself be inclined to hang it directly on the wall via pins in the corners

I've become pretty enamored of these turned and painted wooden apples made in Japan for the Western market which often housed roulette style horse racing games or miniature wooden tea sets, which these likely did, but are now empty. The earliest examples of these date to the late 19th century, but I would guess these are probably 1940s or so. Terrific gifts for the apple of one's eye or one's favorite teacher! Sold individually,
