Beautifully Aged Nearly Square Native American Woven Splint Basket red stone I've found sets in both

I've found sets in both wood and bone produced by a few different British makers in the late 19th century which came in a labeled box with printed instructions--but these are more diverse in form and more finely made

and a perfect English-American hybrid

12 1/4" x 12 1/4" x 1 1/2"

often including horses (there a couple of examples of his drawings of  soldiers also listed in the shop

I'd love to see these put to good use

Beautifully Aged Nearly Square Native American Woven Splint Basket red stone I've found sets in bothI walk past a lot of baskets in these parts, but the color on this one, woven of ash splint I believe, struck me as especially beautiful, with the pattern of the way the splint has weathered amplifying the woven construction of the basket in just the right way. It has definitely lived a life there is a bit of loss visible on one side particularly, and it slants a bit when viewed from that direction but it's the age and wear that really makes it.
