There are some minor tricks you can do with your opponent being unable to respond to this cards Summon with Trap Cards, but theyre not good enough to merit using this card
Torbran also plays nicely with Red board wipes such as Earthquake and most notably Pyrohemia, letting you break the symmetry of these wipes and killing opposing creatures while keeping your own tough critters alive (especially if you equip him with Darksteel Plate or similar!)
