The Madrigal Family Amber & Sapphire It's no secret that players are growing tired of the number of Madrigal cards, which leaves me incredibly conflicted about The Madrigal Family: it's a stunning card from a design standpoint, but it's not necessarily as playable as I would like
Id forgotten a crucial line of text, and Id cast a two mana spell that read, show your opponent youre a silly duck, then shamefully discard this. That wasnt exactly a great play experience, and its a consequence of incredibly rigid templating to enforce a specific play pattern
Like the lore, you have to put a stake in the heart of this one, or else it's going to rise from the grave and cause you problems
It can, for example, recognize cards on textured backgrounds (the image of the Dragon Whelp below), cards in sleeves and cases (Counterspell in the BGS case), several cards in one image (picture of my Wizards Tournament II Blue-Red counterburn deck), and cards photographed in a an extremely tilted angle (the last three images below)
They also dont exist on the battlefield and presumably cannot be destroyed
