These are effects that pretty much show up in every set in common in a particular color: White White always has some kind of lifegain, enchantment removal, and creature removal (which can include Blue Blue always has a counterspell (often two, one hard, one soft), "bounce" ("return BLAH to its owner's hand"), card drawing, creature-control enchantment (most often locking it down), and sometimes has a card sifting, shrinking ("target creature gets N/-0 until end of turn"), or twiddling ("tap or untap target BLAH")
But something is still better than nothing
In MTG , there will be Sephiroth, Fabled Soldier, capable of transforming into Sephiroth, One-Winged Angel
The 4 MV of Marsh Flitter is rather rough for a 1/1 creature, but you do get the added benefit of creating two 1/1 Goblins
You may choose a second target for it to destroy as well
