Still, Izzet Charm sees play all the way back to Modern and shows up in some Commander decks because the power of Izzet Charm is based on its flexibility, not its efficiency
Characters are played into the Character area (and cannot be used to attack on their first turn in play), the text on Event cards is followed, and then the card is discarded (or trashed, in One Piece Card Game terminology), and finally, Stage cards are played and stay in play next to the Leader, unless a card effect removes them

Discarding two cards to keep a Counterspell in hand for repeat use may seem like a steep cost, but it's not so bad if you have ways of drawing extra cards repeatedly
